Maumee Man Gets Two Years



A Maumee man was sentenced Friday, June 14, in Fulton County Common Pleas Court: •Brian Brooks, 23; entered no contest plea; convicted of felonious assault; on Oct. 27, 2012, caused serious physical harm to a Liberty Center man; sentenced to two years in prison; ordered to make restitution for medical costs.

Anthony Covarrubias, 18, Archbold, told police Friday, June 14, that starting about 4 pm, he received harassing messages via a social media website. Police contacted the persons involved and advised them to stop communicating; if they did not, charges would be filed.

Archbold Teachers, Classified Workers Accept Pay Freeze




The Archbold Education Association and Archbold Area School Board have reached a three-year agreement that calls for district teachers to take a one-year freeze in base pay. A Napoleon man was sentenced to prison in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, Wednesday, June 19: •Justin Schwable, 28; previously pled guilty to escape; on Nov. 11, 2012, while being detained after an altercation at a bar in Wauseon, Schwable ran from the officer who was detaining him; sentenced to 11 months in prison.
