Zoning Board Okays Garage Expansion

The Archbold Board of Zoning Appeals approved a side yard variance to allow for an addition to a home, Thursday, April 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Joel Stier, 104 West Lutz Road, requested the variance. They are adding more garage space to the east side of the house, to connect with the present garage. Joel Stier attended the meeting.

He said the roof of the new addition will match the roofline of the current house and garage.

The east wall of the new addition will be within eight feet of the east boundary of the Stier’s property. A ninefoot variance was approved.

All members of the zoning board present– Tim Smith, Rich Winzeler, Tim Ziegler, and Brad Short– voted in favor of granting the variance.

Brad Roth was absent.

The zoning board is set to meet tomorrow, Thursday, at 6 pm in council chambers, to hear a request from Frozen Specialties, Inc.

The firm wants to construct a 9×12 addition to the north side of the factory building. The village zoning code requires that the firm apply for a variance.

The Archbold Planning Commission will hold a hearing at 7 pm, Monday, April 22.

Tri-Flo, Inc., 100 Summerfield Dr., is requesting the rezoning of about 30 acres of property from R-3, medium density residential, to B-2, highway and commercial business.
