Among the personnel actions taken by the Archbold School Board at its Monday, Oct. 24 meeting was the first step for Christine Ziegler, district treasurer, to retire and be rehired.
Ziegler will officially retire from her post on Jan. 1, 2017. The proposal is to rehire her for her current job immediately following her retirement.
The program allows Ziegler to draw her State Employee Retirement System pension while continuing to draw a paycheck from the school district.
A public meeting on the issue is set for 4:55 pm, Monday, Dec. 19, in the AHS media center. The meeting is scheduled five minutes before the regular monthly school board meeting is set to start.
In other action, the board approved Jim Hartman as a band volunteer for the 2016- 17 school year and a oneyear contract for Larryjose Tijerina as a student custodial worker for 2016-17.
A one-year supplemental contract was approved for Jamie Anderson for winter concessions for 2016-17.
Trey Smith was approved as a junior high boys basketball coach for the 2016-17 school year.
The board approved moving four teachers on the district salary schedule as the result of the completion of additional education courses.
Mindy Gruenhagen, a third-grade teacher, was elevated on the schedule for completing her master’s degree.
Coricia Meyer and Shannon Schmucker, kindergarten teachers, were moved up for completing their master’s degrees, plus 15 hours of additional education.
Kevin K. “Scoop” Miller, Archbold middle school physical education teacher, was moved up on the salary scale for completing a master’s degree plus 30 hours of additional education.
