Alexander “Zander” Kahler, an Archbold fifth grade student, has received the Spirit of Community Award for his dist inguished achievement in community service from a national insurance company.
Over the past year, Zander has found several ways to support the poor, sick, and elderly on the streets, in hospitals, and nursing homes.
As the local honoree, Zander’s application has advanced for state-level judging.
Two years ago, Chaina Nafziger, then a six-grade student, received the Spirit of Community Award, and later, was selected as one of two Ohio award winners. She received a $1,000 scholarship and a trip to Washington D.C.
