Woman Treated, Released After Crash

Jacqueline Lillian Dixon, 40, Wauseon, was treated and released after the vehicle she was driving crashed on Co. Rd. D, about threetenths of a mile east of Co. Rd. 21 at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing, Sunday, Nov. 18.

The Fulton County Sheriff Department report states at 2:50 am, Dixon was driving east on Co. Rd. D when her vehicle went out of control at the curve leading to the crossing. Her vehicle struck a direction sign and went into a deep ditch.

Archbold Rescue transported Dixon to FCHC.

Deputies cited her for DUI.


Jacob D. Dickmann, 25, West Unity, was involved in a single-vehicle crash at 2:14 am, Sunday, Nov. 18, at the curves south of Zone on St. Rt. 66.

The FCSD report states Dickmann was driving a minivan south on the highway, with passenger Tylor A. Neuenschwander, 24, Edon, when the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve.

It went off the south side of the road, drove over an earth mound, and struck a parked camper and a mobile home at 10034 St. Rt. 66.

The minivan then rolled over, struck a parked lawn tractor, then came to rest on top of a second lawn tractor.

ALS-1, the Archbold-based paramedic unit, transported Dickmann to FCHC.

Neuenschwander was taken to FCHC by Fayette Rescue. Both were treated and released.

Dickmann was cited for failure to control.


Brendon Allen Manz, 17, Archbold, was the driver of a car that crashed into a ditch while driving in a field at 4:57 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 21.

The FCSD report states the car was parked in a field south of the Wauseon reservoirs. A passenger in the auto was Elaine Lyn Snyder, 15, Wauseon. The field, which had been tilled, is owned by the City of Wauseon.

The report states Manz was attempting to back to the west, in the direction of Co. Rd. 15. However, the car drifted to the north, and went over the edge of a deep ditch. The vehicle rolled over once, then came to rest on its wheels at the bottom of the ditch.

The report states both Manz and Snyder received non-incapacitating injuries. Snyder was taken to the Fulton County Health Center by ALS-8, the Wauseon- based paramedic unit. She was treated and released.

No charges were filed.


There were several cardeer accidents of local interest on file. There were no human injuries from any of the mishaps:

•Wednesday, Nov. 14, 7:39 pm: Lester L. Shufelt, 79, McClure, was driving a car east on St. Rt. 2, with passengers Dorothy L. Shufelt, 77, same address, and Dennis J. Rowe, 56, Napoleon, and hit a deer one-tenth of a mile west of Co. Rd. 17.

•Saturday, Nov. 17, 7:56 pm: Kimberly S. Helmke, 41, Archbold, was driving an SUV east on St. Rt. 2 with passenger Melissa Flores, 36, Archbold, and hit a deer about a quarter-mile west of Co. Rd. 26.

•Monday, Nov. 19, 10:25 am: Wayne Donald Dinius, 60, Archbold, was driving a bus owned by the Quadco Rehabilitation Center, Stryker, east on St. Rt. 2, and hit a deer about three-tenths of a mile west of Co. Rd. 25.

•Monday, Nov. 19, 11:11 pm: Chase Allan Gingerich, 20, Archbold, was driving a car south on St. Rt. 66 and hit a deer a half-mile north of Co. Rd. F.

•Tuesday, Nov. 20, 6:37 pm: Jane S. Meck, 56, rural Archbold, was driving a car east on St. Rt. 2 and hit a deer in the 17000 block.

•Friday, Nov. 23, 5:46 am: Melissa Ann Garza-Vielma, 39, Wauseon, was driving a car west on Co. Rd. C and hit a deer three-tenths of a mile west of Co. Rd. 18.

•Saturday, Nov. 24, 9:33 pm: Brooke M. Wagner, 28, Pettisville, was driving a car west on Co. Rd. D with passenger Daniel A. Brooks, 29, Columbus, and hit a deer about two-tenths of a mile east of Co. Rd. 6.

•Sunday, Nov. 25, 7:21 pm: Kent Crandall Lester, 53, rural Fayette, was driving an SUV north on St. Rt. 66 with passenger Barbara Ruth Lester, 53, same address, and hit a deer onetenth of a mile north of Co. Rd. J.

•Sunday, Nov. 25, 6:13 pm: Emily J. Baer, 32, Toledo, was driving an SUV east on Co. Rd. D and hit a deer about two-tenths of a mile east of Co. Rd. 18.
