Woman Suffers Gunshot Wound

The victim in a Memorial Day shooting incident near Fayette has died.

Darrell Merillat, Fulton County sheriff, said Wednesday, Patricia E. Lavinder, 55, rural Fayette, died Tuesday, June 1, at the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. An autopsy has been scheduled. Fulton County sheriff deputies are continuing their investigation.

Darrell Merillat, Fulton County sheriff, said Tuesday a gunshot wound to the abdomen suffered by a rural Fayette woman was self-infl icted.

Merillat said the victim is in her mid-50s, and lives alone in the 23000 block of Co. Rd. S.

Friends checking on her discovered the situation and called for help about 1 pm, Monday, May 31.

Fayette Rescue and ALS-1, the paramedic squad based at Archbold, responded to the scene, and transported the victim to the Archbold Hospital. She was flown by helicopter ambulance from Archbold to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

Merillat said she was still alive late Monday night.

Sheriff deputies are investigating.
