Melissa Molina, 28, Wauseon, was discharged from the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Sunday, March 30, after she was injured jumping from the second floor window to escape a house fire.

Marv Wheeler, Wauseon Fire Department Chief, said Molina, was 24 weeks pregnant when her home, at 611 Ottokee Street, caught fire Tuesday night, March 25. After jumping from the window, she suffered possible leg and/or pelvis fractures, Wheeler said.

Two other children climbed out window onto the roof to escape heavy smoke. A third boy was brought out through a window by fire fighters.

A helicopter ambulance landed in a park near the home; Molina and one of the children were flown to St. Vs; the youth was not admitted.

Wauseon Rescue transported the other two children, and three other adult residents to the Fulton County Health Center, where they were treated and released.

Wauseon fire crews received the call at 10:49 pm, and called Archbold Fire Department for additional manpower.

Wheeler said the fire started in a utility room, but the exact cause is not known; damaged was estimated at $30,000.
