A woman wanted in connection with the January 2020 death of a Swanton man has been arrested.

Roy Miller, Fulton County sheriff, said Marcella C. Wright, also known as Marcella Christina Moreno- Wright, was arrested by the U.S. Marshalls in the Pittsburgh area.

An FCSD deputy traveled to the Pittsburgh area and brought her back to Ohio, holding her at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

She was booked into CCNO, Thursday, Jan. 7.

Wright was indicted Feb. 10, 2020, on charges of reckless homicide in connection with the death of Kevin Mc- Farland, 27, Swanton, and the felonious assault of Bobby Foster, age and address unknown.

Fulton County sheriff dispatchers received a call at 2:24 am, Jan 18, 2020, reporting two males were found lying alongside Co. Rd. 14, north of Co. Rd. D.

The two, identified as Mc- Farland and Foster, were taken to the Fulton County Health Center.

McFarland died; Foster survived.

McFarland’s official cause of death was listed as a drug overdose.

Another Charge

Miller said Wright was arrested in Pennsylvania on another charge. When her name was entered into the National Crime Information Center Computer, the Fulton County warrant for her arrest popped up.

By the time Fulton County contacted the Pennsylvania agency, she had been released. But Miller said they knew she was in that area.

The U.S. Marshalls were called and arrested her.

Secret Indictment

Wright was indicted under a process known as a “secret indictment.”

In a secret indictment, a grand jury hands down an indictment, but the information is withheld from the public until the subject of the indictment is arrested.

A secret indictment is used to encourage witnesses to testify, and-or when there is a chance the accused may flee.

Wright had a hearing in Fulton County Common Pleas Court on Friday, Jan. 8. Bond was set at $100,000, cash or surety, 10% payment not allowed.

Others

Another defendant in the case was John D. Leveck 41, of Weston.

He was indicted on six counts: three drug related, and three in connection with the death of McFarland and felonious assault on McFarland.

Leveck entered guilty pleas to complicity to possess drugs and attempted felonious assault.

He is currently incarcerated at North Central Correctional Institution, Marion.

In addition to the Fulton County charges, he is serving time for sex charges from Wood County.

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction website states his prison terms expire in 2026.

Amber Barnett, 19, Wauseon, was also indicted in connection with the death of McFarland.

Originally indicted on seven counts, she pled guilty to permitting drug abuse and attempted reckless homicide.

Barnett was sentenced to 210 days at CCNO, with credit for time served.
