William J. Summers, age 95 years, of Archbold, passed away Thursday evening, July 25, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
He was born Jan. 2, 1918, at Duluth, Minn., the son of James and Mary (Courier) Summers.
He married Olga Geupel on May 8, 1948, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2007.
He lived at Pewaukee, Wis., before moving to the Archbold area in 1970. He worked at the former LaChoy Food Products in Archbold before retiring in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Archbold.
He is survived by twin children, Diane (William) Phelps of Archbold, and Dennis (Joyce) Summers of Wauseon; son, James Summers of Mishicot, Wis.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Jones of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Carl Stromberg; his wife; and 11 sisters.
Services will be private with Pastor Paul Reichert officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion B.L.W. Post #311. There will be no visitation.
