William J. “Bill” Henson, age 74 years, of Archbold, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 9, 2012, at the CHP Defi- ance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
He was born May 11, 1938, in Phillipsburg, Mo., the son of Calvin and Nora (Teigue) Henson.
He married Carol Friley on May 4, 1957, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2009.
A resident of the Archbold area since 1964, he worked at Young Spring & Wire/Leggett & Platt in Archbold for 44 years.
He enjoyed camping & bowling and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
He is survived by three children, Jim (Joanne) Henson of Bryan, Cindy Henson of Charlotte, N.C., and Joe (Cindy) Henson of Lyons; four grandchildren, Adam, Justin (Michelle), and Jamie Henson, and Terri Jo (Tyler) Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Tegan and Jade Hamilton; one brother, Robert (Eileen) Henson of Adrian, Mich.; one sister, Wilma Gould of Morenci, Mich.; and father-in-law, Willard Friley of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the North Clinton Mennonite Church with Pastor Brad Faler officiating. Interment preceded at 9:30 a.m. in the Archbold Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials be given to CHP Hospice.
