Wayne Lester “Chirps” Grime, 84, of Archbold, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, July 9, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Archbold, the son of Lester and Hulda (Miller) Grime.
He married Nancy J. Stites on Aug. 26, 1950, who preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2014.
He was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Wayne enjoyed restoring old cars and antiques. He enjoyed playing cards with anybody that stopped by, and showing off his birdhouses.
Wayne had an innate musical talent. He not only had a beautiful baritone voice, but could play just about any instrument with the piano, guitar, banjo, and harmonica being his passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; two sons, Randal D. and James Grime; and infant granddaughter, Ellen M. Schrickel.
He is survived by his children, Peggy (Tom) Hines, Bradley (Marsha) Grime, Chris (Nina) Grime, Brigitte (Mike) Schrickel, Abigail Harrow all of Archbold, Melinda (Chris) Emmons of Alvordton; 17 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Martha) Grime; and one sister, Margaret Saul.
Services will be held today, Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church Archbold with Rev. Stephen Stanberry officiating. He will be laid to rest in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Archbold.
The family suggests that memorials be given to St. Peter Catholic Church or CHP Hospice Center.
