Deb Volkman, a Village of Archbold employee for five years, has been transferred from her former position in the income tax department to become an administrative assistant.
The change went into effect during the second week of November.
Dennis Howell, Archbold village administrator, said village officials will see if the income tax department can function with one employee, as it did prior to 1994. If it can, the village can save the cost of one full-time employee.
In her new role, Volkman will act as an assistant to Howell and Joan Lovejoy, village finance director. Once Lovejoy retires at the end of the year, Volkman will assist Kathy Rupp, who will take over the finance director position.
Volkman works in the utility office in the Archbold municipal building. With Rupp moving to the finance director office, help will be needed in the utility office.
Initially, the move will not mean a pay increase for Volkman, but a raise is possible in the future, depending on performance, Howell said.
“Deb is a very talented individual,” he said.
