It was a dominating performance as the Archbold wrestlers traveled to Evergreen and came home with two Northwest Ohio Athletic League victories, Thursday, Jan. 17.
The Streaks defeated the host Vikings 74-6 and bested Bryan 62-15 in the nightcap.
With the two wins, Archbold stands at 21-4, 5-1 in the NWOAL.
AHS 74, Evergreen 6
Wrestling started in the 195-pound weight class, and Blue Streak Travis Jaramillo wasted little time giving his team the lead with a pin.
It was the 100th win of his high school career.
Evergreen recorded a pin at 220 lbs., but the Vikings scored no more.
The Blue and Gold got help from six forfeits along with pins by Lee Klinger (285 lbs.), Zach Meyer (113 lbs.), Ben Eggers (132 lbs.) and Eli Hammersmith (182 lbs.).
Garrett Grime scored a 15- 0 technical fall, and Lincoln Parsley (160 lbs.) defeated Ryan Patchin, a returning state qualifier, in a hardfought 7-4 match.
“Lincoln really impressed us tonight,” said Cody Ruffer, AHS assistant coach. “That was a big win over the Patchin kid.
“It’s gonna boost his confi- dence for down the road.”
AHS 62, Bryan 15
Archbold took the momentum from its first match and kept rolling as the Streaks captured the first nine weight classes against Bryan to gain an early lead.
Falls were recorded by Jaramillo, Klinger, Eggers, Logan Day (145 lbs.) and Hammersmith. Lukas Rufenacht (126 lbs.) scored a 15-0 technical fall and Justice Zimmerman (140 lbs.) scored a 9-4 decision.
Bryan was void at four weight classes to help the Streak cause.
“Overall I think the team is wrestling well,” said Ruffer. We’ve got some guys that work hard and battle.
“They fill in well for us, and in the end they’ll succeed just by their hard effort.”
