Vehicles Collide

There was a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Street and Front Street in Pettisville at 8:20 am, Tuesday, Aug. 20, a Fulton County Sheriff Department report states.

A car driven by Ruth E. Giffin-Matthews, 53, rural Wauseon, was stopped just south of the Front Street intersection, waiting on a train at the Norfolk Southern crossing on Main Street.

The Giffin-Matthews vehicle was stopped south of Front Street to avoid blocking the intersection.

A pickup truck, driven by Thomas L. Vollmar, 71, rural Swanton, was traveling north on Main St., and collided with the Giffin-Matthews vehicle.

No injures; Vollmar was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.


A pickup truck driven by Daniel W. Baker, 41, Fayette, was traveling north on St. Rt. 66 about 3:22 am, Thursday, Aug. 22, when the pickup struck a pony in the roadway.

The crash occurred about 100 feet south of Co. Rd. J.

Aaron Miller, who lives in the 23000 block of Co. Rd. J, owned the pony.

No injury to human.


Mark O. Taylor, 50, rural Fayette, was driving a pickup truck north on Co. Rd. 24 at 10:45 pm, Saturday, Aug. 17, when the vehicle hit a deer about one-tenth of a mile south of Nolan Parkway.

No injury to human.
