Valeria B. Hornish, age 102 years, of Archbold, passed away late Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at FairlawnHaven Nursing Home in Archbold.
She was born May 1, 1913, the second of four children to Willard and Pearl (Weis) Peters.
She graduated from Jewell Schools in 1931.
She married Donald J Hornish on Jan. 1, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1995.
An Archbold resident most of her lifetime, she wintered at Sun-N-Fun at Sarasota, Fla., several years. She enjoyed music, traveling, gardening and playing games with family and friends.
She was a longtime active member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold. She dearly loved her family, friends and her Lord Jesus.
She is survived by two sons, Donald D (Nancy) Hornish of Brooksville, Fla., and Rex E (Karen) Hornish of Kalamazoo, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia (Les) Steinke of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Duane Peters; and one sister, Loreen Ross.
Services were held on Saturday, Feb 6, at 2:30 p.m. at Fairlawn Chapel. Pastor Erich Christman (St. John’s Christian Church) and Pastor Dennis Bauer (grandson-in-law) officiated. Interment followed in the Archbold Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
