V. Ruth Schmucker, age 91 years, of Archbold, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 29, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven Care Center in Archbold.
She was born Jan. 3, 1926, near Archbold, the daughter of Edward and Dinah (Leupp) Miller, and married Maurice “Smoke” Schmucker on Jan. 3, 1943.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she was a homemaker and worked at Ohio Gas Company in Archbold and Bryan for 20 years before retiring in 1988.
Ruth enjoyed wintering 18 years in Florida, cooking, sharing her cookies with anyone who stopped to visit, and loved playing with the granddogs.
She was a member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Maurice; three daughters, Shiela (Kent) Short and Shari Lauber, both of Wauseon, and Susan (Brad) Enderle of Archbold; seven grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Velma Overmier of Archbold.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Dale Miller, Floyd Miller, Glen Miller, Leonard Miller Sr., and Orval Miller; two sisters, Lorine Miller and Lucille “Buzz” Ziegler.
Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Christian Church with pastors Erich Christman and Alex Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery.
Friends may call at St. John’s Church from 2-8 p.m., today, Wednesday.
