United Way Needs Help

The Fulton County 2008 United Way campaign continued to accept donations and pledges yesterday, Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Gina Saaf, UW executive director, said the campaign is about where it was one year ago.

“Live United” is the 2008 UW slogan. The goal is $320,000.

Saaf said all of the UW agencies are reporting increases in request for assistance this year. Some report phone calls for help with utility payments and food are up 30% over last year.

“Two of the county food pantries we serve are out of food,” said Saaf. “There are families in the county who cannot put food on their tables. There is a wide area of need this year.”

Thirty-three agencies that serve the residents of the county are included in the campaign. The agencies have served the needs of children and adults for years, including the Red Cross, First Call For Help, Women and Family Services, Hospice, and Boy and Girl Scouts.

The deadline for contributions is Dec. 31.

Contributions can be mailed to United Way of Fulton County, 604 South Shoop Ave., Suite 122, Wauseon, OH 43567.
