Two Veteran Archbold Teachers To Retire

Sue Neff and JoAnne Rupp, veteran Archbold teachers, announced their retirement at the end of the school year.

Neff, a kindergarten teacher, taught 33 years in the Archbold Area School District. Rupp, who teaches fifth grade, is a 27-year teacher.

The board accepted the resignations.

Eliminate Position

The board approved a recommendation by David Deskins, district superintendent, to not reemploy Amy Johnson, a halftime high school science teacher.

Deskins told board members Johnson’s position is being eliminated, to be replaced by a full-time science teacher. The board must post the opening for interested applicants.

The board approved posting openings for two special education positions. Previously, the openings were filled by persons employed through the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center.

Maria Oyer was named a homebound instruction tutor for up to five hours a week, retroactive to Monday, March 9.

Deskins said Oyer was working with a special needs student who is unable to attend school.

Bill Rufenacht was appointed volunteer high school baseball coach for the current school year.
