Two people filed declarations of intent to be write-in candidates for the job of German Township fiscal officer.
Melanie Gilders, director of the Fulton County Board of Elections, said Monday, Joyce Kinsman and Keith Roth, both of Archbold, filed the necessary paperwork plus a $30 filing fee by the Monday, Aug. 26 filing deadline.
One will replace Keith Short, incumbent fiscal officer. Short chose not to seek reelection.
No one turned in nominating petitions to have their name appear on the ballot for fiscal officer.
Gilders said in order to vote for a write-in candidate, voters using the new voting equipment will select a checkbox for write-in candidates.
A keypad will then appear on the touch-sensitive screen. The person will then spell out the candidate’s name.
There is space for only one name.
Those using paper ballots will fill in a bubble next to a space for a write-in candidate’s name.
