Two people are dead, and a third injured, after a crash on the Ohio Turnpike Wednesday afternoon about 1:58 pm.
An Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman said the single-vehicle crash occurred at the 37 mile marker. The location is three miles east of the Wauseon interchange, and two miles east of Delta.
Responding to the scene were Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, Wauseon Fire Department, Delta Rescue, the Fulton County Coroner Office, and turnpike maintenance.
As of about 4:10 pm, the westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed; all traffic must exit at the Delta interchange.
An OSHP press release states: “A minivan was traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike near mile post 37.1 in Fulton County. The van lost control and drove off the left side of the roadway striking a guardrail.
“The driver, Daniel Kopplin, 68 years old, from Pewaukee, Wis., and the back seat passenger, Kevin Kopplin, 39 years old, from Grand Fork, Minn, were killed.
“A front seat passenger, Andrew Kopplin, 36 years old, from Germantown, Wis., sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to the Fulton County Health Center.” –posted 4:35pm 5.6.16
