A semi struck a post at the intersection of North Defiance Street and Stryker Street about 9:24 am, Saturday, Sept. 15, an Archbold police report states.

The post was installed to replace a bell bollard, which was designed to keep semis from cutting the corner too close and protect the lighted bollard, just east of the post.

Some trucks have become stuck on the post; others have hit the post and were able to continue.

In the Saturday incident, Kimberly M. Cyphers, 40, Zion, Ill., was driving a semi owned by Schneider National Carriers, Gary, Ind., south on North Defiance Street, and attempted to turn right, to go west on Styrker St.

She turned too sharply, and the semi struck the post.

As Cyphers continued the turn, the post tore through the side of the trailer, severing the trailer brake lines.

Cyphers was cited for an improper right turn. No injuries.
