Christine Ziegler, treasurer of the Archbold Area School District, has clarified a statistic she provided in an article in last week’s edition of this newspaper.
In the article about the contract agreement between the Archbold Education Association and the Archbold Area School Board, Ziegler said the average step increase in teacher salaries is 1.79%.
Ziegler said the 1.79% figure she provided is actually the cost to the school board of all step pay increases for the 2010-11 fiscal year, when compared to the 2009-10 fiscal year.
In other words, for 2010- 11, step pay increases for all district teachers drove up payroll costs by 1.79% over the 2009-10 school year.
She said she does not have a figure for the average step increase in pay that teachers receive.
