Archbold Village Council approved the appointment of Kaleb Torbet to the Archbold Police Department as a full-time police officer on probationary status.
The action came during council’s Monday, Aug. 20 meeting.
Torbet originally joined the APD auxiliary force in November 2010.
A Wauseon High School graduate, Torbet earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal science from Tiffin University. He graduated in 2009. He is also a graduate of the Henry County Law Enforcement Academy.
He is the son of Keith Torbet, Wauseon police chief.
In a related matter, council noted a reception would be held for Dennis Helmke, an Archbold police patrolman, who is retiring after many years with APD.
