Timothy Thomas “Tom” Yoder




Timothy Thomas “Tom” Yoder, age 67 years, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2008, in his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 8, 1941 at LaJunta, Colo., a son of Timothy T. and Lucille (Eicher) Yoder, and married Glora Belle Rychener on Feb. 26, 1966.

He was a 1959 graduate of Archbold High School, and served in 1-W in Denver, Colo. during the Vietnam War. He, along with his father and brother, began Yoder Compost in 1955 and continued to own and operate it until 1988. He then worked at Sauder Woodworking Company for 18 years. He was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold, where he and his wife were custodians for 16 years.

He is survived by his wife, Glora Belle; four children, Ty Yoder and Heather (Tim) Myers, both of Archbold, Ryan (Amber) Yoder of Ridgeville Corners, and Justin (Carrie) Yoder of Archbold; four grandsons; seven siblings, Peggy (Duane) Frey, of Fort Wayne, Ind., Max (Pat) Yoder of Archbold, Mary (Bob) Birkey of Elkhart, Ind., Jean (David Newcomer) Yoder of Ellensburg, Wash., Barb (Alexis) Zamora of Costa Rica, Linda (Tony) Szilagye of Rossford, and Joyce (Matt Nickele) Yoder of Seattle, Wash.

Memorial services were held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Sherm Kauffman and Mona Sauder officiating. Interment preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials be given to CHWC Hospice, Zion Mennonite Church or the American Cancer Society.
