Three-Vehicle Crash Results In Minor Injuries


Three people were taken to Fulton County Health Center with suspected minor injuries following a three-vehicle pileup, Thursday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 pm.

The Henry County Sheriff Department report states a car driven by Pamela S. Rash, 57, rural Archbold, with passenger Betty L Rash, 82, rural Delta, was traveling east on St. Rt. 34, and was stopped at the intersection of Henry Co. Rd. 24, waiting to make a left turn.

A sport-utility vehicle driven by Claudia S. St. John, 32, Wauseon, was stopped behind Rash.

A second car driven by Isaac M. Ruiz, 25, Wauseon, was traveling east behind St. John.

Collision

The report states Ruiz struck St. John’s SUV, which in turn, collided with Rash’s vehicle.

The Rashes were taken to FCHC by Archbold Rescue. Ridgeville Rescue transported St. John to FCHC.

Ruiz was examined by Ridgeville Rescue personnel, but was not transported.

Ruiz was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

Fatal

A fatal crash occurred at the same intersection about 6:17 pm, Tuesday, June 15, when a car and a motorcycle collided.

The HCSD report states William J. Stahler, 49, rural Montpelier, was traveling east on St. Rt. 34 while a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert Hawk, 30, Archbold, was traveling south on Co. Rd. 24.

The report states Hawk stopped at the stop sign at the highway intersection, then drove forward, where they collided. Stahler was pronounced dead at the scene. Hawk was not injured.

The investigation into the accident is still pending.
