Third Quarter Dooms AHS Against Perrysburg

After getting outscored 10-5 in the third quarter, Archbold’s fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short as Perrysburg defeated the Streaks 42-40, Thursday, Dec. 27, in girls basketball.

“We gave ourselves a chance to win, and that’s all we can ask,” said Brian Ziegler, AHS head coach.

“We had our chances. We didn’t execute at the end.

“But we can learn from it. We lost to a good Perrysburg team. We did some good things, especially down 10– we did a good job chipping away to get into a position to win.”

Archbold led 13-11 after one, but the Yellow Jackets (7-2) went into the locker room up 21-20.

Perrysburg went into the final eight minutes up 31- 25. The Streaks outscored the Yellow Jackets 15-11 in the final quarter lost by two points.

Archbold’s Lily Krieger led all scorers, with 14 points. She also grabbed nine of the Streaks’ 18 rebounds.

Andi Peterson was also in double figures, with 10 points.

Kylie Griggs led Perrysburg, with 13 points. Nadeen Jemaa scored 12 points on four three-pointers.

Archbold was 6-10 at the free-throw line, while the Yellow Jackets were 9-12.
