Theft Foiled?

A theft from a South Defi- ance Street home may have been foiled by a barking dog and a homeowner.

Thomas Clark, 43, 114 South Defiance Street, told police Sunday morning, Sept. 30, he heard a dog bark outside sometime between 2 and 2:30 am. He turned on an outdoor spotlight, but did not see anything or anyone.

At 9 am that morning, he discovered his ladder in his backyard; it had been in his shed. The ladder was not damaged, and nothing else was missing.

Clark speculated that when he turned on the spotlight, the person(s) dropped the ladder and ran.

In an unrelated case, Kami Lee Pierce, 26, Fox Chase Lot 22, told police four solar-powered landscaping lights were stolen sometime between 9 am and 9:30 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The incident was originally reported as a possible breaking and entering, but officers determined no entry had been made.

The lights were valued at $10.
