Take Time To Reflect On Memorial Day

Each year, the observance of Memorial Day is obscured.

Memorial Day is to honor those men and women who have worn the uniform of the armed forces of the United States and have perished in service to our country.

It is they who established and secured our freedom, and saved much of the world from tyranny and oppression. They gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy our lives today.

But honoring the men and women who died in service to the country gets lost as people enjoy a day off work and the start of summer. Cookouts, trips to the lake, and other fun activities overshadow the solemn event.

In a way, that’s fine. Those who died in service to the country would want us to enjoy the day; to be happy and celebrate. If the dead could, they would surely sit down with you and your family and enjoy the party.

But during that fun summer day, take time to stop, reflect, and honor the ones who did the work for you and died in service so you can live the life you enjoy today.
