Student Teacher Selected For Substitute Job

Brandon Behnfeldt, a student teacher at Archbold High School, has been selected to become a long-term substitute in science classes.

The Archbold Area School Board approved the move, pending Behnfeldt receiving an appropriate teaching license, during the board’s Monday night, Dec. 15, meeting.

David Deskins, school district superintendent, said Behnfeldt will fill in while a teacher is on maternity leave.

Deskins told board members two Archbold students will be homebound after they undergo surgical procedures. The board approved Brenda Beck and Amy Johnson for up to five hours a week each to tutor those students at home.

The board also approved John Downey as a volunteer coach for the 2008-09 indoor track season.

Supplemental contracts were approved for Mike Short and Marlyn Krueger as music assistants for the 2008-09 spring musical.

The board granted authorization to the district’s administrative team to hire a half-time high school science teacher for the 2009-10 school year.

The additional teacher is required because state-mandated curriculum requirements, along with higher incoming student populations, create the need for the additional science position.

The board also approved reappointing Helen Row, Archbold, to another term on the Archbold Library Board. A veteran of Library Board, her term begins Jan 1, 2009.

Consensus Agenda

As part of the school board’s consensus agenda, board members approved meeting minutes from the Nov. 17 regular meeting, plus special meetings on Nov. 19, 21, 24, and 28.

The board also approved the November financial reports and budget modifications.- David Pugh
