Sectional Final

AHS 6, LC 0

Leading 2-0 after two innings, Archbold scored four runs in the sixth and senior pitcher Rigo Ramos threw 10 strikeouts as the Streaks defeated Liberty Center (12-9) 6-0, Friday, May 17, at Archbold to win a Div. III sectional championship.

Ramos pitched a one-hit shutout and walked only one.

The Streaks recorded 10 hits. Grosjean led AHS with a double, while Williams had three singles and Galvan had two base hits.

Kern, Travis Ziegler, Rice, and Mohring each had one single.

“We knew we would need to play well to beat Liberty Center,” said Dick Selgo, AHS head coach. “They have been a very competitive team all year.

“Rigo came through with another outstanding pitching performance, the defense played well, and we got some clutch hits by Jeron Williams, Travis Ziegler, Mitch Grosjean, and TJ Rice in that four-run sixth inning to give us a little breathing room.

“It’s always a nice accomplishment to win the sectional tournament and advance to the district.

“We will need to be very sharp in all phases of the game at Defiance, as there will be four very excellent teams.”
