Archbold held off a late fourth-quarter rally by Napoleon (7-5), Tuesday, Jan. 18, to pick up its 13th boys basketball win of the season, 59-51.
A low-scoring first half found the Streaks holding a 23-18 lead at the half.
The Blue and Gold came out in the third and exploded for 23 points. The Streaks led 33-23 at the 4:33 mark of the third when Napoleon called a time-out to slow Archbold.
AHS rattled off 11 straight points to lead 44-23 before Jordan Lauf hit at the charity stripe, breaking the cold shooting of Napoleon with 1:23 in the third.
Archbold added a deuce to end the quarter, setting up the final eight minutes with a 46-24 lead.
The Cats (7-5) went on a 14-2 run to close the gap to 48-38 with 4:44 left in the contest.
Archbold took full advantage of the charity stripe in the final 3:30, connecting on nine of 11 for its total of 59 points.
Archbold used balanced scoring and placed three in double digits. Garrett Morton totaled 21; Telly Fricke added 16, including 11-14 at the foul line; and Tyson Dietrich chipped in 12 points, connecting on 4-4 at the charity stripe.
Archbold hit 25 of 35 from the foul line for the game.
Napoleon’s Jordan Lauf led all scorers with 26 points.
The Streaks won the rebounding battle, 37-23. Luke Kammeyer led the Streaks with 12.
