It was the girls soccer Northwest Ohio Athletic League opener for Archbold at Bryan, Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Streaks played their league rivals to a 1-1 tie.

In the lastest Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll, AHS (4-0-1, 0-0-1 NWOAL) is ranked number one in Division III in Northwest Ohio.

After Bryan took an early 1-0 lead, the Streaks, not having trailed all season, showed resilience and scored the equalizer off the foot of Kamryn Hostetler with an assist from Alicia Hernandez.

“Of course we are disappointed that we didn’t come out with a win,” said James Kidder, AHS head coach, “but a tie is better than a loss.

“We are still in the hunt for a league championship. I am proud that they were able to come from behind to tie the game.

“We played really good soccer the last 20 minutes of the game. Our next game we will play like that from beginning to end.”
