“It was a very humid day, but I thought the kids ran well despite that fact,” said Tom Wagner, PHS head coach.

“We have another race ‘under our belts.’

“For some runners it was their first race of the year. For many of the younger runners they are learning and adjusting their pace to 3.1 miles from the two miles of junior high.

“We had many good performances today, and we hope to build upon what we learned from this race.”

“All around, both teams ran very well for the first meet of the season,” said Rachel Kinsman, AHS head coach.

“It was nice to get a meet in to gauge where we are this early and for our freshmen to get one under their belt.

“It’s encouraging to have runners up toward the front this early, too.
