Streak Baseball Beats N. Central, Falls To Fairview





The Archbold baseball team split their contests last week for a 2-1 record after two weeks.

The Blue Streaks hosted North Central, Monday, April 7 and defeated the Eagles 16-6. Archbold traveled to Fairview, Tuesday, April 8 and suffered an 8-0 loss.

A Thursday, April 10 contest at Hilltop was cancelled.

AHS 16, North Central 6

The Blue Streaks pounded out 11 hits on their way to a 16-6 victory. Archbold picked up the win on the arm of Corey Walker. Walker went 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking three.

Also on the mound for the Blue and Gold was Steven Kinsman, who went 1/3 inning, and Ben Brader, who gave up four runs on three hits and walked one.

Leading hitter for the Streaks was Kyle Walker, going 3-5 with two doubles and three runs batted in. Kinsman went 3-5.

The Eagles opened with a 4- 0 lead in the first inning and added one more in the second for a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.

Then the Streaks’ bats took off, scoring eight runs for an 8-5 advantage.

North Central added one fi- nal run in the third. The Blue and Gold picked up a pair in the bottom half of the third, four in the fourth, and two more in the bottom of the fifth.

Fairview 8, AHS 0

A trio of Fairview pitchers tossed a one-hitter in the 8-0 shutout of the Streaks.

Scoreless through two innings, the Apaches (2-0) scored in the bottom of the third. While one run turned out to be enough for the victory, the Apaches added six more in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the sixth for the 8-0 final.

Earning the win was Ryan Radcliff. He struck out 11 and walked three in five innings. Eric Sims and James Mock pitched one inning each.

David Rupp suffered the loss, giving up five runs on four hits, striking out five, and walking three in 4 1/3 innings.
