Six Persons Sentenced



A Wauseon man was sentenced Friday, June 20, in Fulton County Common Pleas Court:

Eric Volkman, 24; pled guilty to one count, theft; between April 15 and July 16, 2013, he illegally obtained unemployment benefits; sentenced to five days at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, credit for five days served; placed on one year community control; ordered to pay $3,080 restitution to Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, pay cost of prosecution, seek and maintain employment, stay out of bars and-or taverns, not to possess or consume alcohol; failure to comply could result in six-month prison sentence.

Two men and one woman were sentenced Tuesday, June 24, in Fulton County Common Pleas Court:

•Nathan Warren, 23, rural Delta; previously pled guilty to forgery; on Sept. 9, 2013, he forged a check stolen from a Delta residence; sentenced to two years of community control, ordered to pay a $250 fine, have no contact with victim, obtain a General Education Development (GED) certificate, abide by a 10 pm to 6 am curfew, and complete the SEARCH program; failure to comply could result in 11 months in prison.

•Mark Wheeler, 54, Youngstown; previously pled guilty to attempted improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and using weapons while intoxicated; on Aug. 25, 2013, during a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike, officers discovered Wheeler was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and attempting to carry a firearm illegally; sentenced to 180 days at CCNO, sentence suspended, ordered to serve 20 days at CCNO with credit for three days served; ordered to pay cost of prosecution, forfeit 2007-model motorcycle to the State of Ohio; failure to comply could result in 180-day sentence.

• Kelsey May, 23, Toledo; previously pled guilty to burglary, on Sept. 6, 2013, broke into a residence on Valley Court in Swanton; ordered to serve 30 days at CCNO, work release allowed if eligible; placed on two years community control; ordered to pay cost of prosecution, stay out of bars-taverns, not possess or consume alcohol, abide by a 10 pm to 6 am curfew, complete drug-alcohol treatment; failure to comply could result in 18-month prison sentence.

A Wauseon woman entered a guilty plea and was sentenced in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, Wednesday, June 25:

Lindsay Durbin, 24; pled guilty to trafficking in heroin; on or about March 12, sold or offered to sell heroin; sentenced to two years community control; ordered to pay cost of prosecution, attorney fees, $30 restitution to Wauseon Police Department, not to consume or possess alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, not to enter bars or taverns, be evaluated by drug-alcohol agency for treatment, complete drugalcohol counseling if recommended, comply with treatment and aftercare if recommended, seek and maintain employment; driver license suspended for six months with occupational driving privileges; failure to comply could result in eight-month prison sentence.

A Swanton man was sentenced in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, Wednesday, June 25.

•David A. Shanks, Jr., 21; previously pled guilty to possession of heroin; on or about Dec. 13, 2013, was in possession of heroin; sentenced to two years community control; ordered not to possess or consume alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs, not to enter bars or taverns, be assessed by SEARCH program, if found acceptable, complete SEARCH, seek and maintain employment, abide by 10 pm to 6 am curfew; driver license suspended for six months, with occupational driving privileges; failure to comply could result in an 11-month prison sentence.
