Silveous Pleads Guilty To Reckless Homicide

Dale E. Silveous, Jr., 22, Delta, entered a guilty plea to a charge of reckless homicide in connection with the suspected heroin overdose death of a 20-yearold Wauseon man.

Matthew Knierim, 20, Wauseon, died Oct. 23, 2014, of a suspected heroin overdose.

Silveous was arrested Oct. 24, 2014, after a joint investigation of Knierim’s death by several law enforcement agencies including Wauseon police and the Northwest Ohio Multi-Area Narcotics Task Force, commonly known as the MAN Unit.

He was charged with reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and aggravated trafficking in drugs.

Silveous was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on Nov. 17, 2014. The indictment charged him with one count each, involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, and possession of heroin, along with two counts of trafficking in heroin.

He entered guilty pleas to reckless homicide and a count of trafficking in heroin.

Scott Haselman, Fulton County prosecuting attorney, said Silveous, who is currently free on his own recognizance, has been referred to the adult probation department for a pre-sentence investigation.

A sentencing date has not been set.
