Pettisville is in line for nearly half a million dollars in cash to repair the sidewalks in the unincorporated community and expand the sidewalk system.
There are citizens who adamantly oppose the sidewalks.
Among their reasons are that persons should take personal responsibility for their own safety and get off the road when a car approaches. The government cannot protect people every time, all the time.
That’s true, but if government can help keep people safe while encouraging a healthy alternative to oil-based transportation, it must be done.
Motorists and citizens must be protected.
