Shirley A. Raker
Shirley A. Raker, 67, of Coldwater, Mich., and formerly of Stryker and Wauseon, passed away Tuesday evening, July 22, 2008 at her home at Coldwater Lake, Mich.
Prior to retirement, she had helped her husband, Dick, operate the Raker Oil Company in Stryker from 1970-2000. She had also worked at The Candy Cane Christmas Shoppe in Archbold and did house cleaning and interior decorating.
Shirley was born in Adrian, Mich. on June 7, 1941, the daughter of the late Alvin and the late Doris (Couts) Heath. On Nov. 20, 1959 she married Richard "Dick" Raker, and he survives. She was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church.
Surviving besides her husband, Dick, are two daughters, Sabrina (Todd) Grisier of Archbold, Heidi (John) Kern of Delta; three grandchildren, Christian Grisier of Bowling Green, Amelia and Jessica Kern, both of Delta; one brother, Eugene (Vicki) Heath of Delta; and one sister, Cassie Hamman of Gulf Hammock, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Chelsey Grisier; and two brothers-in-law, Dick Hamman and Joe Gype.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church, with Pastor Brad Bame, officiating. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold on Saturday from 2-8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Branch County Hospice of Branch County, Mich., or the Chelsey L. Grisier Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
