The Archbold School Board approved several personnel actions during its Monday, Feb. 12 meeting.
The board met in executive session for about 40 minutes. Stated reason for the closed-door session was “to discuss the employment, compensation, promotion, or demotion of public employees.”
No action was taken when the board returned to regular session.
The board approved a one-year contract for Jeremy King as a homebound tutor for the 2017-18 school year. The contract is for up to five hours per week, and was effective Feb. 8.
The resignation of Matt Cousino, elementary custodian, was accepted, with a Jan. 9 effective date. The board approved a one-year contract for Ron Rice as elementary custodian for 2017-18 with a Jan. 24 effective date.
Tess Pinter was approved as a certified van driver effective Jan.19. She was also granted a one-year contract as a classified employee substitute for 2017-18.
Aaron Rex, superintendent, said Pinter is often asked to travel with students as part of her work with Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and student council. Normally, the district would need to pay a bus driver to transport the students.
“By her getting a van driver’s certificate, she can take students to locations on her own,” Rex said.
“All part-time bus and van drivers who transport students involved in supplemental activities are hired as classified substitutes. We have done this in other circumstances.”
Pinter also is the AHS media center director.
Garrett Grime and Loren Brown were approved as volunteer baseball coaches for the current school year. The vote was unanimous.
The board also approved a one-year supplemental contract for Jack Downey as an assistant football coach for the 2018-19 school year. John Downey, a board member, abstained from voting.
The board approved early graduation for Macey Rupp. She met all requirements for graduation as of Dec. 20, 2017.
A transportation contract with Dawn Gerig was approved for the remainder of the current school year effective Feb. 5.
The board accepted the donation of 576 candy canes from Spangler Candy Company, Bryan. Donated in December, they went to the elementary school.
Two overnight trips were approved.
The AHS choir will travel to New York City March 27- 31, 2019.
