School Board Meets In Three-Hour Secret Session




Members of the Archbold Area School Board met in executive session for about three and a half hours during at their Monday night, Jan. 12, meeting.

Stated reason for the secret meeting was to discuss compensation, appointment, promotion, or demotion of public employees, as well as pending legal issues.

David Deskins, district superintendent, declined to elaborate on what was discussed during the secret session.

When the board returned to regular session, no action resulted from the meeting.

Board members received official notification that John Downey, veteran AHS football coach, has decided not to coach the sport.

The board approved posting the vacancy among the school district staff immediately.

In other personnel action, board members approved supplemental contracts for Doug Williams and Jeff Brunswick as assistant AHS baseball coaches for the 2008-09 school year.

Tom Vershum and John Brooks were recognized as volunteer assistant high school baseball coaches.

Board members accepted the resignation of Lori Dunning as a school bus aid and cafeteria worker, effective Jan. 5.
