For students in the Archbold and Pettisville school districts, the 2013- 14 school year started this morning, Wednesday.
It’s the end of summer vacation, with youngsters saying good-bye to carefree vacation days with the family.
It’s also the beginning, when children return to the classroom to meet old and new friends.
There are new challenges to face, new goals to accomplish, new things to learn and do.
For adults, it’s the excitement of Friday nights under the lights when the football season gets underway. It’s the marching band; it’s cheers for a big play; it’s a warm bag of popcorn on a chilly evening.
It’s hundreds of school activities for all citizens to enjoy and watch children excel.
It’s time for everyone to watch out for the yellow buses carrying our future. It’s time to keep an eye out for children in a hurry to get to and from school, not watching what they’re doing, whether getting on and off the bus, walking, and riding bicycles to and from school.
Parents send their children off to school to learn and grow. Those children soon become adults, and send their children off to school.
It’s all a part of the cycle of life, as the whole wonderful thing repeats over and over again.
