Alyssa Schaub, AHS ’11, daughter of David and Denise, recently was the recipient of Lourdes University Chemistry and Physical Sciences Excellence Award for science majors.
The award is given to only one science major. She is a biology major and chemistry minor.
Schaub was also recognized as an undergraduate student presenter at the 10th annual LU Scholarship & Research Symposium in April. The title of her research was “Synthesis, Characterization and Properties of Liquid Crystals.”
She earned a 4.0 gpa and was named to the dean’s list for the 2014 spring quarter.
Schaub was also selected to the All-Academic Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Team and was a WHAC All-Conference First Team pick in softball.
Schaub led Lourdes in hitting during the regular season, batting .360 with 39 hits. The junior third baseman and outfielder hit four home runs, drove home 13 runs, scored a team-high 35 times, and stole 21 bases.
She posted a .459 on-base percentage while registering a .573 slugging percentage.
