Russell Zuvers, 82, of Morenci, Mich., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Citizens for Quality Care in Morenci.
He was born on July 23, 1928, in Morenci, the son of Ruby & Clara (Clark) Zuvers. On Oct. 25, 1952, in Angola, Ind., he married Helen E. Schoonover. She preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 1999.
Russell was a lifelong Morenci-area resident. He was formerly employed at the Morenci Rubber Plant, retiring after 42 years of service. Russell served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Morenci American Legion Post #368 and a member of the UAW local #1154 of Adrian, Mich.
Survivors include a brother, Gary (Marsha) Zuvers of Morenci; two nieces, Shirley Vanderpool of Morenci and Roxie Apger of Morenci; three nephews, Jack (Georgia) Zuvers, Merlin (Bonnie) Zuvers and Donald (Beverly) Zuvers, all of Morenci; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Besides his wife, Helen, Russell was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Velma Blair, Hazel Breese and Helen M. Zuvers; and a brother, Verlin Zuvers.
Funeral services were on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Pastor Donna Galloway officiating. Burial followed at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
