Rupp Named Distinguished Alumnus

Gene L. Rupp, Archbold, has been named 2008 distinguished alumnus for service to Taylor University, Upland, Ind.

Rupp was honored during Homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct. 11.

He and his wife, Nancy, have two adult sons and five grandchildren.

He has been involved with TU for most of his adult life; first as a student from 1954- 1958, then as a member of the TU advancement staff.

From 1988-1991, Rupp was the associate director of development. For the following 12 years, he served as vice president for university advance- ment. The successful completion of the $75 million Taylor Tomorrow capital campaign was a highlight of his tenure at his alma mater.

During the 14 years the Rupps were part of the campus community, they involved themselves deeply in the lives of students, staff, and faculty. One of his greatest gifts and passions is ministering and being with people.

In his retirement, Rupp serves as special assistant to university advancement.

Rupp was recognized for his many years of service and commitment to the university and in appreciation for his life of ministry.
