Ronald L. Short

Ronald L. Short, 87, of Archbold, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania.

He was born on June 10, 1922, near Stryker. He was the son of Daniel P. and Dinah (Rupp) Short.

He married Martha Leupp on Feb. 4, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2008.

He lived most of his life in Archbold, and was a lifelong member of the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, in W.W. II, from 1942-45. He was employed for many years as a buyer for Lugbill’s Livestock in Archbold.

He and Martha built and operated the Arch Motel in Archbold and the Rainbow Motel in Montpelier.

He is survived by two sons, Roger (Susan) of Sylvania Township, and Randy (Sherry) of Paulding; one brother, Daniel P. Short (Betty) of Archbold; six grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Orval, Reuben, and Earl, and one sister, Audrey.

There will be visitation on Thursday, May 27, from 4- 8 p.m., at the Short Funeral Home in Archbold. There will be a burial service on Friday, May 28 at 9:30 a.m., at the Pettisville cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Archbold Evangelical Church, with pastors Stuart Rex and Charles Zimmerman officiating.
