Roger E. Luty, age 74, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, in his home, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Prior to his retirement he had owned and operated Rogers Speed Shop and Lawn and Garden Equipment in Bryan for 45 years.
Roger was born in Archbold on Aug. 24, 1935, the son of the late Earl and the late Anna (Leupp) Luty. On June 20, 1953 he married C. Waneta Spiess, and she survives.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Stryker.
Surviving besides his wife, Waneta, are two daughters, Karen (Dan) Cline of Stryker, Sheryl (James) Cameron of Reynolds, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sheila Bostater, Amy Hinton, James Cameron, Jr., Erin Cline; and four great-grandchildren, Makenzie Hinton, Hunter Bostater, Austin Bostater, and Coleman Hinton.
Deceased relatives include his parents and one sister, Ruth Ann Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the First Lutheran Church in Stryker, with the Rev. Dane Meuschke, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker.
Friends may call at the First Lutheran Church on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the First Lutheran Church in Stryker or CHWC Hospice.
