Roger E. Luty

Roger E. Luty, age 74, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, in his home, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Prior to his retirement he had owned and operated Rogers Speed Shop and Lawn and Garden Equipment in Bryan for 45 years.

Roger was born in Archbold on Aug. 24, 1935, the son of the late Earl and the late Anna (Leupp) Luty. On June 20, 1953 he married C. Waneta Spiess, and she survives.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Stryker.

Surviving besides his wife, Waneta, are two daughters, Karen (Dan) Cline of Stryker, Sheryl (James) Cameron of Reynolds, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sheila Bostater, Amy Hinton, James Cameron, Jr., Erin Cline; and four greatgrandchildren, Makenzie Hinton, Hunter Bostater, Austin Bostater, and Coleman Hinton.

Deceased relatives include his parents and one sister, Ruth Ann Smith.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at the First Lutheran Church in Stryker, with the Rev. Dane Meuschke, officiating. Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the First Lutheran Church in Stryker or CHWC Hospice.

Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker was entrusted with arrangements.
