Roger A. Hurst
Roger A. Hurst, 51, of rural Archbold, died Tuesday, July 29, at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.
He was born July 21, 1957 in Napoleon, to the late Raymond Hurst and Dorothy (Shibler) Hurst, who survives in Defiance. On May 12, 1979, he married Becky Eberle at St. John United Church of Christ in Holgate, and she survives.
Roger was a mechanic at Sauder Woodworking in Archbold and previously an employee for Snyder Chevrolet in Napoleon and Christy’s Chevrolet in Archbold. He was a 1976 graduate of Tinora High School.
Roger was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the Ridgeville Sons of the American Legion #454, the Archbold Athletic Boosters, and an honorary member of the Archbold FFA.
Roger is also survived by four children, Jennifer, Bradley, Renee, and Nicole, all at home; four brothers, Michael (Susan) Hurst, Steven (Sue Ann) Hurst, both of Napoleon, Robert “Willie” Hurst of Defiance, Carl (Pam) Hurst of Archbold; and a sister, Marsha (Lynn) Bostelman of Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at St. John Lutheran Church, corner of Rt 6 and 66, Stryker, Dale Kern is the officiating Pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and from 10-11 a.m. on Friday prior to services at the church.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Unit, St. John Lutheran Church Expansion Fund, St. John Lutheran Stained Glass Window Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
