Robert W. Short

Robert W. Short died on April 1, 2008 at the age of 89 years.

Robert was born to Albert and Eliza (Ligibel) Short on March 3, 1919 on the family farm in German Township near Archbold, Ohio, where he worked the soil his entire life.

Robert, a graduate of Archbold High School, went on to study agricultural business at Michigan State University and graduated in 1949. Later that year on Aug. 6, Robert married Myra J. Mulder of Grand Rapids, Mich., and together they raised four sons.

Robert served on the Fulton County Soil Conservation Board for a number of years. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Archbold. Robert was a member of Rotary International; a Paul Harris recipient, served as past president of the local chapter, and was recently honored for his 50 years of perfect attendance.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, John L. (Virgie, deceased) Short and Harold J. (Erma) Short.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myra J.; four sons, John F. (Melissa) of Franklin, N.C.; Peter D. (Pamela) of Archbold; James R. (Pamela) of Marietta, Ga.; and Thomas A. (Shireen) of Highland Ranch, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

Internment was at the Lockport Cemetery on Saturday morning, followed by a memorial service at the United Methodist Church, Archbold, with Rev. David David and Pastor Pamela Short officiating.

Arrangements were by Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Memorial gifts are suggested to the Archbold United Methodist Church, Rotary Scholarship Fund, or Fairlawn Haven.
