Richard J. Wyse, age 80 years, of Archbold, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 24, 2010.
He was born Aug. 27, 1929, near Archbold, the son of Leland and Ilva (King) Wyse, and married Grace Prough of Goshen, Indiana on Nov. 23, 1950.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he was the founder of Wyse Electric Motor Repair in 1955, and continued to work there until his health issues occurred.
Another business venture was owning and maintaining rental properties. He attended Lockport Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; four children, Rhonda (Brent) McGraw of Perrysburg, Patrick (Carleen) Wyse of Archbold, Becky (Jeff) Rupp of Wauseon, and Beth (James) Wall of Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Denver and Everett; and three sisters, Evelyn Grieser, Charlene Steuer, and Shirley Shenk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lowell and Wilson; a son-inlaw, Phil Wyse; and a brotherin law, Paul Grieser.
Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Lockport Mennonite Church with Pastor Steve Heatwole officiating. Interment followed in the Lockport Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorials be given to Lockport Mennonite Church or Fairlawn Haven.
